Today’s episode of the Chasing Freedom show is an honest and raw conversation about mental health with Kayla Stoecklein. We chat about the incredibly difficult season she’s walking through after losing her husband, but also how she’s found purpose in the pain.
I think so many of us don’t know how to approach mental health. It isn’t something we can see like a broken arm, and know how to fix it but it’s still there.
There isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to mental health either, sometimes medication works and other times it doesn’t. Kayla shares with me that the key is learning how to love and empathize regardless.
We talk about the difficulty of being a caretaker and living alongside someone with mental illness. Kayla shares about grace in the grief and how the healing process looks different for everyone. She is a true light and I’m so thankful for her openness and wisdom on how we can all lean into loving people with mental illness.
Check out Kayla’s new book Fear Gone Wild - a book that is truly written for everyone. Whether you’re struggling with mental illness or caring for someone with mental illness, she has so much wisdom to share.
